I've been trying to find any way to learn how to be able to practice this meditation and I don't think its fair to have to learn in through paying a teacher . I meen thousands of dollars to learn ? There's got to be an easier way … If someone could explain the process and help me learn I'd really appreciate it Or if u have any information please let me know. Posted by Federico Below is a site for passage meditation plus mantra as an allied practice. I learned it from books(before the internet existed) and have practiced it for years. Easiest meditation practice i know of, and it's adaptable to almost any religious belief because you pick your own passages and mantra and it's cheap/free(dependent on whether you buy any books, etc). Since transcendental meditation is a concentration meditationpractice and so is passage meditation. Transcendental meditation is not a superior practice but just one of many types of concentration meditation. Passage meditation is worth a look. And i also find it objectionable that a mantra is for sale when it should really be freely given by a teacher. Perhaps it is reasonable to charge a fee if a practice is taught in classes where there are overhead costs but it shouldn't be taught to make a profit. How does one learn transcendental meditation? I want to get in to transcendental meditation. Is there any way I could teach myself how to do this or is it best to be taught by a trained teacher? Posted by Swee P Federico No offense to DrDeanCr, but what he describes is not Transcendental Meditation. TM does not focus on the breath or specific breathing techniques. It's a very simple, yet powerful tool that has been nothing short of remarkable for me. It's true that TM charges $1500 for adults and $750 for students and those in financial need. It'smy understanding that financing, grants and scholarships are available. Still, those fees are beyond my personal ability to pay. If you'd like to go beyond simple meditation methods and genuinely transcend, I suggest you head over to NSRUSA.org and it will cost you as little as $25 for downloadable instructions from a former TM instructor. That's exactly what I did and it's easily the best decision I've made this year so far. Sure, I could probably describe the technique in detail but I promise you that the instructions are worth the modest fee. Frankly, I'd pay the full $1500 to learn from the TM org if I had the means. Best of luck, and be blessed. Your opinion about transcendental or vedic meditation.? I am looking to start practicing meditation and just attended a conference about Vedic meditation. Now is up to me wether or not doing the course. My first 2 impressions about this technique were, first it seems to work based on the cases I have seen on youtube and comments aroundinternet – I particularly don't no anyone that does this mediation -but my second thought was that the whole thing was a bit commercial, a kind of hipster new thing to do and designed to the cool people that can afford it. So, based in your personal experience, please just answer if you have gone through the course, do you think my first impression was right or my second one? Share your point of views please. Thanks in advance Thanks for all the answers and I will seek to learn more about this technique and hopefully start practicing for good. I am glad John you've been taught by £35 pounds. Now a days they call "sliding -scale" which means you have to pay one week of your earnings and the minimum you can contribute is £400 pounds. I totally agree that everything in life should be paid and they have costs to cover but if you think of an average of 10 people taking the course paying an average let's say of £600 it makes £6000. The people I went to see run courses three times a monthwhat makes £18.000. Saying that I think some people are not very keen in contribute to the world but rather have a comfortable life selling a mantra. Thankfully I found a place in London that have a different opinion about that and teach for a rather affordable price and I am looking forward to it. Posted by gbeat Federico I learned Transcendental Meditation as taught by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in 1974. At the time it cost me £35 approx. I have been practising it and receiving benefits from it for almsot 40 years. This works out at about £1 per year. Vedic Meditation is not Transcendental Meditation..despite claims to the contrary. “If you Want Your Physical, Mental, and Emotional Health Back, Then This Will be The Most Important Letter You’ve Ever Read…” Chakra Cleansing & Activating Guided Meditation
